DWTS Week 1: The Beginning

Week 1:  The Beginning…

This season Len Goodman is not judging the stars on the show. I find this terribly sad, considering he was the only judge with a ballroom and Latin license to judge. The others are not qualified to judge Ballroom and Latin…it doesn’t matter how long you danced for , it doesn’t make you a judge. At this point you can get Tom Bergeron to judge, as well as host. BRING LEN BACK!!!!

Victor Espinoza is paired up with Karina and they danced a Salsa to “Going Down For Real” by Florida and it was different. When he said he couldn’t dance, he wasn’t kidding. You can see he gave it his all and had fun with it! But where was the salsa? They scored 5,5,5 leaving them with a total of 15.

Tamar Braxton is paired up with Val and they danced a Quickstep to “Do Your Thing” by Basement Jaxx and it was very very good, which makes me wonder if she’s danced ballroom before. Frame, posture, footwork? Really? Nope, can’t fool me. Why bother having a competition? Unfair advantage. But I can’t deny, she danced beautifully! They scored 8,7,8 totaling 23.

Chaka Khan is paired up with Keo and they danced a Cha Cha to “I Feel For You” by Chaka Khan and it was not bad. It looked like she forgot part of her choreography. She can definitely shake her assets. ;-). Keo really needs to make choreography that his star can handle. Build technique and less material. They scored 5,4,4 totaling 13.

Hayes Grier is paired up with Emma and they danced a Cha Cha to “Cheerleader” by Omi and it was okay. It was barely a Cha Cha it was more hip hop. He had his legs to far apart, but he kept up, it wasn’t bad. They scored 7,7,7 totaling 21.

Andy Grammer is paired up with Allison and they danced a Foxtrot to “Marvin Gaye” by Charlie Puth featuring Meghan Trainor and it was not bad for a non dancer. Needs to work on posture, footwork and his frame. Allison needs to smooth out her movements so that he can feel it. They scored 7,7,7 totaling 21.

Paula Deen is paired up with Luis and they danced a Quickstep to “Hey Good Looking” by Carol Welsman and it was pretty good. Luis made her look so elegant and classy. It was a little bit heavy. But for her first time, she did really well. They scored 5,5,5 totaling 15.

Carlos Penavega is paired up with Whitney and they danced a Jive to “I Got You (I Feel Good)” by James Brown and it was awesome. He’s got good rhythm and great personality on the floor. Wow. It looked so natural. I loved it!! Need to work on foot technique. They scored 8,8,7 totaling 23.

Alexa Penavega is paired up with Mark and they danced a Jive to “Whistle” (While You Work It) by Katy Tiz and it was not bad. She can shake it. But she needed to pull up through her center. She definitely kept up with Mark with a fantastic routine. They scored 7,7,8 totaling 22.

Kim Zolciak-Biermann is paired up with Tony and they danced a Salsa to “Hey Mama” by David Guetta featuring Nicki Minaj and it was okay. Very safe and it had salsa material in it. She has potential she just needs to let us see it. She is good, so now…Put out!!! They scored 4,4,4 totaling 12.

Bindi Irwin is paired up with Derek and they danced a Jive to “Crocodile Rock” by Elton John and it was very well danced! Amazing! This little girl can move and act on stage. She has great personality. Loved it! They scored 8,8,8 totaling 24.

Gary Busey is paired up with Anna and they danced a Cha Cha to “Dancing In The Street” by David Bowie Nd Mick Jagger and it was not bad , not good either but for his age, he survived! He was most definitely feeling it. They scored 5,5,5 totaling 15.

Alek Skarlatos is paired up with Lindsay and they danced a Foxtrot to “10 Feet Tall” by Afrojack and it was very good! For a non dancer, he was amazing! He glided across the floor. He is a great listener when it came to direction…army trained! Loved it! They scored 8,7,7 totaling 22.

Nick Carter is paired up with Sharna and they danced a ChaCha to “I Don’t Like It, I Love It” by Flo Rida and Robin Thicke and it was very good. He moves very well for a guy who is insecure about his dancing. Sharna’s choreography was absolutely amazing! They scored 8,8,8 totaling 24.
